KuRu is a family run business...and our family has been passionate about braaing all our lives – we braai at least once or twice a week during summer and winter, come rain or shine.
The idea for KuRu started when Wesley played a rugby match in Kathu against Sishen Rugby club where after the game they lit a fire in a monster outdoor fireplace. It lit up and warmed the entire club entertainment area creating an incredible party vibe and provided more than enough coals for the 5 half barrel braais that circled this huge “kaggel”.
Over the next few years that idea grew into a business where we looked at creating unique “different” outdoor fireplaces and braais and everything that goes with a successful braai from the firelighters to the spices, aprons, gloves, and even to the great coffee and homemade rusks that end a great braai!
We currently use the same engineering company that has produced the entire metal work inside the award-winning, incredible Elgin Railway Market – they pride themselves in great quality products using the best raw materials so our end products are not the cheapest but will be long lasting high quality.
